They provide a reliable supply of fuel from the left forward fuel tank to the engine fuel priming pump and the heater fuel pump. The devices are also used to pump fuel through the TFK-3 filter of the NK-12 pump before starting the engine after a long stop.
The BCN-1 centrifugal pump has the following features:
- Guarantees the filling of fuel pipelines without the formation of steam blockages, which ensures stable operation of the engine.
- Removes air bubbles and fuel vapors from the NK-12 pump and the TFK-3 filter through the air valve or appropriate air plugs.
- Performs pumping of fuel from the system through the drain fitting to other fuel tanks or containers.
The BCN-1 centrifugal pump is mounted on a special flange welded to the left forward fuel tank. It is important to note that the inlet and protective mesh are located inside the tank, while the pump housing and electric motor are located outside.
